![]() To find out more information on the new features in Affinity Designer 1.5 check out these videos. The asset management panel allows users to drag and drop items into or out of the panel for easy access. Snapping power is a new feature based around creating easy, customisable alignment through grids and snap to pixel, while instant live feedback makes it a doodle to monitor the precision of your design. ![]() The symbols feature allows users to have multiple instances of the same object – where editing one object will edit them all simultaneously. I would’ve hit the buy button as quick as everyone else here. The new constraints feature allows users to control the position or size of an object relative to its container, making it possible to create reusable elements performing in a pseudo-responsive manner. If I had the artistic talent/creativity v2 would pay for itself for me, as designer is so robust as to be capable of producing products to sell or designing in the internet space for a job or business. People in my position may want “credit” for v1 just so they can actually GET v2, not necessarily because they don’t think it’s worth it or valuable. I just wanted to let you all know that from my side and in my position, I WILL buy it, if I’m ever able to afford it. It’s showing as $169.99 now, but even that is preferable over a subs model. BUT, being financially poor and talent to match I would gladly pay $99 for v2 universal license. I’ve been trying to foster creativity, but the only job I can find is food delivery, in a very saturated, meager populated area, meaning I have to work 7, 12 hour days just to get by. Here we are 3 years later and still no job, or realized talent. I purchased hoping to get my creative talent flowing again. Nothing special, probably slightly above average. I’m an office person I guess, but because I worked under the table for my husband for like 6 years, and having a disability, new employment has been insanely difficult. I purchased v1 in 2020, hoping to find a niche after my layoff. Most of you are probably experienced designers, but the book adds a whole new value to newbies like myself. And the unified file format that you can open in any of the apps is genius and really useful.ĭoes anyone know if they send the book with v2 as they did with v1? The book alone is a beautiful addition to the bookshelf, but with a whole new version, probably outdated. I'm so happy this software exists and is affordable. Some of the improvements were really good. ![]() And so on, there's a lot to be found in the forums.Īnd I was also sort of hoping but not expecting that they finally made a DAM for us who still mourns Aperture, but alas, no such news.Īnyway, I don't regret buying the new license for a second, for me V1 was a lot of joy to use and I expect V2 to be mostly better. ![]() And on the Mac side the single window mode is causing some frustration for people used to working with multiple windows and floating toolbars. On top of that they made some changes that makes things worse for some users (nothing that bothers me personally though), the choice to only installs as and Windows App seems to break all kind of integration over on the dark side. And I was more or less expecting some sort of AI-assisted ”smart” functionality, like auto masking and stuff that a lot of the competition has been adding over the last years. I was kind of hope for them both to check of a lot of the long standing feature requests that's keeping people from switching from Adobes suite. Serif was more or less in radio silence for a year with no visible development of V1 (just some minor bug fixes in March) while they (I assume) was working on V2 and what we got was a solid update but not the big news they where teasing ahead of the launch. That being said the V2 was a bit underwhelming. They have given so much back throughout the lifetime of V1 for such a low price it's really insane how entitled some are in the forums right now. I'm also ok with the whole "no upgrade" thing. I love their suite, it is such a good value och and they stick with the perpetual license, thank god. I bought the new universal license as soon as the store was up. ![]()
